Amended Digipack

After reviewing the feedback from our original Digi pack we have made a few changes based on the comments we received. The main changes were the background in a couple of our slides, we made the cloud background darker and changed the font to white so that it was easier to read and didn't get lost in the original light background.
Below is our new amended digipack to be released with the album as part of our marketing campaign for 'Open Spaces' ...

Digi Pack Reviews

In order to build up an understanding of some initial opinions on the digipack we produced we constructed a detailed survey and distributed it to members of our year group. The feedback we received was constructive and we have taken the comments on board and will look to address some of the negative points for the final edition of the digipack.
Here is a sample of the feedback which we recieved.....

There's not much I like about this digipak except that the picture of the band members has been morphed into the clouds, thats really cool. It is too grey and makes me feel depressed. The text is nice though.

Encodeds digipack shows continuity in the fact that they have used the same colors constantly throughout. The CD doesnt look complete its just blank with no design on it. And i think that the same backround is maybe a bit to repetitive it could change the pattern slightly.

Very plain with the same background throughout the whole digipack. Could be improved by adding more pictures of the band.

WWW: Lyrics page looks professional and Picture page suits your genre also. EBI: Personally i think you should scrap the text its too basic. Change having clouds on every page and if you are keeping it change the white text as its hard to read. Have more photos of artists. Take a better front cover photo as it you wouldn't be able to see the artist from a distance. Make an actual CD print.

Encoded's colour scheme is very unified but I think it needs to be a little darker in terms of the shade of grey used. Also what is up with the bottom middle digipak? a cd on the horizon?

The encoded website is is very plain. All the same colours are used througout all the digipak. The black and white colours do go well together but not with the text. The text colour clashes with the background meaning that you cant read it. The image is not the same as eeryone else's and is editied a lot meaning it is different to everyone else.

Not actual size and scale of a digipak. Love the monochromatic colour scheme, perhaps though, the colours are too similar - go for contrast! Font also seems a tad generic, explore into other fonts that can present Encoded how you want them to be received.

I like that there is a clear theme throughout. The same text and colours have been used which makes it look really slick and professional. the disc could have been more interesting as it is very place - possibly add the artist name and album name?

This digipak is very good but some parts are hard to read as the colours are too similar. More colour may help to catch the customers eye. There is a lot of good synergy and also the images used are of a good quality.

Although i like their digipack i feel they could use a better font. The digipack is quite plain and simple so having an interesting font would help.

I feel all the writing should be black as some of the white writing gets lost on the background.
12/1/2014 12:13 PM View respondent's answers

i like how they've kept a monochrome theme Make the writing slightly bigger
12/1/2014 11:48 AM View respondent's answers

Text blends with the background too much Not a lot there, dull Guessing the genre is easy

Cool and creative front cover Could do with more variety in image

it fits together very well as all of the backgrounds are the same. i love the black and white colour scheme and cloudy/marbled effect. however some of the white text is lost within the white parts of the background and the cd is quite boring in a plain silver.

I like the misty black, grey and white background. Improvements: it is so simple, the font is simple, the pictures are simple. Make it a bit more memorable?

These were the questions that were put to people in the survey monkey that we produced:

Audience Questionnaire

In order for the group to build up an understanding of our audience and to gauge an idea of what they wanted to appear in or video we put together a questionnaire and distributed widely to give as as wide a variety of response as possible. Questions ranged from favorite genre of music right the way through to the way people consume and listen to music.

The Questionnaire is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/create/survey/preview?sm=ZfYdPQnlSV35xoMLL1v2gdYj1lN1UMis0VSRRS83tK1cwBzbW2MreCSOTbMClrdJsALKLqyhpusUqCdTIx4OhA_3D_3D

Website Progression Home Page

Here I have shown, and will show for the rest of the website, how the construction of the website progressed into the final completed website that we now have.
Above you can see the homepage during the construction process, as you can see the the back ground is plain black at this point in start contrast to the final version. It also lack the final news feed style element which can be seen in our final home page.  This was something that was identified by the group during the construction of the website as something that we needed to address and change in order to make the website look more professional and acceptable to the target audience and modern music environment.

Website Progressions Contact us Page

Once again as you can see above, the contact us page was relatively incomplete at this stage of the construction process. At this point we were quite unsure with what to do with the contact page and how best to make it work and look appealing to a fan wishing to communicate with the band easily. In order to make it more appealing, later on we added bigger bolder text as well as personal images of the band to make it look as if you were really closely connected with the artists, at the end of the process it was one of the pages we were most proud of and you can clearly see how it has progressed as the process went on.

Website Progression Tour Page

We didn't actually have an original construction for the tour page, this once something that came as a very spontaneous page that came much later on in the process towards the end of the website plan. It was quite easy to do as we used the standard template that had come previously from the other pages of the website.

Website Progression Gallery Page

When we originally began constructing the website, the gallery page was probably the most plain and basic page. Here we only have a basic gallery with a few images present, however as construction went on and more photo shoots were conducted we carefully added images to the slideshow and built up the gallery page around this.

Website Progression Band Page

Similarly to the home page, in the early constructions of the website we see a lack of the background image which has become a pivotal point throughout our final website, which gives the website its unique encoded identity. Its also missing the social media bar at the side for the instagram page which is present in the final version.

Website Progression

The Album page is pretty similar to the final construction, it is as expected missing the background image, however all that was changed was so shifting around of the the framing and formatting the location of the text. Apart from this the album page was the most complete for the longest period of time.

First Draft Feedback

We presented the first draft to the class and got them to mark the video in the same format that the examiner would when moderating the work. From this we found some things that we can work on....

Main Points of Concern:
Unsteady camera work was the main cause for concern as people said it made the video lose quality because its looked cheap and untidy. To alter this we will make sure that when we go to re film the unsteady part we take more care in filming. Failing this we will play around with the stabilize effect to try and smooth over some of the camera work however the stabilize effect doesn't always work as well as we hope so this will have to be something that we look in.
Another problem we had was some of the lip syncing, this was something we identified when we exported the video however lip syncing bits up is a simple process that with some time and effort will be able to change. I will make sure for the 2nd/final draft that all the lip syncing is as close to perfect as possible.

Average mark:
29 out of 40 (a score we were pleased with but want to considerably improve on)

Halfway presentation feedback

After presenting our slideshow at the halfway point of our project we produced a questionnaire type table for people to answer in order to gather peoples opinions on where the group was at currently. This allowed us to gain some critical points that could help us to improve the video and project in future. Below I have inserted a sample of the feedback that we received.

Group Peer Assessment and Self Assessment

In order to establish our strengths and weaknesses as a group, in order to improve the mechanics of how the group works together, we carried out some self and peer assessment during today lesson. Below I have displayed the template sheets we used as well as the feedback.

My strengths I found from our evaluation came in the form of my creativity, and also my editing and photoshop skills

I need to improve on my blogging and listening to groups ideas.

Something that I have learned from the group and have improved is some of my photoshop skills, also a change I would make if I can improve my group would be our communication skills within the group.
